Census Secondary Education

High-quality teaching resources to raise awareness of Census 2021 in secondary schools. Inspire students with the power of data. Empower them to articulate why it matters to their community.

About Census

The census is a survey that happens every 10 years and gives us a picture of all the people and households in England and Wales. To support the census, the Office for National Statistics (ONS) has created an inspiring teaching initiative called the Secondary Education Programme. Teachers in secondary schools across England and Wales can access free school and lesson content designed to bring the census to life for students aged 11-18.

The programme uses this unique opportunity to help young people understand how census information is used to make decisions across society. Sign up now to access free Citizenship and PSHE resources that prompt classroom discussion about the power of data. Be the first to hear about new Maths, History and Geography resources available in November – and about our competition running across England and Wales launching in early 2021.
